DIET DELIVERY: JUICE CLEANSE VIA BLUE PRINT JUICE

After all of the eating and delivering of food I have been doing over the last few months, I’ve decided to go on a cleanse (so very LA of me). I had been hearing about a juice cleanse called Blue Print Cleanse, and luckily they deliver in NY (and LA– go figure).– Pretty funny actually — their delivery details section of their site reads: “If you appreciate what it is to live in New York or Los Angeles, then you know that you can get ANYTHING delivered, dahling” – my point exactly!

I ordered the 3 day cleanse and had it delivered yesterday so I could start this morning. While the price of the cleanse is steep – I have heard good things and am excited for this. Plus, given my roots are in LA, a cleanse delivery is just something I had to try.

FOOD DELIVERY: COOKIES VIA INSOMNIA COOKIES

In an attempt to satisfy my sweet tooth (pre- starting my cleanse tomorrow), I ordered cookies from Insomnia cookies on the upper east side. They have an easy online ordering system that gives you an estimated delivery time window, and a $6 minimum for delivery. I ordered 4 cookies (don’t judge, they were for me and the rooms) – and my cookies were at my door 30 minutes later, free of delivery charges. I nom nom-ed my way into the afternoon, a super happy lady — not thinking about the cleanse that starts tomorrow.. stay tuned!

TELEGRAM DELIVERY: BIG APPLE SINGING TELEGRAM

I was watching my all-time favorite romantic drama, P.S. I Love you, the other day and when the scene came up of the leprechaun and singing telegram, I wondered if that was actually a thing here in NY.

I did a little Google searching, and came across Big Apple Singing Telegrams, a personalized telegram service where you can hire and send telegrams to any or all of your closest friends/family. While it only has a few reviews on Yelp, combined it gives them 4 out of 5 stars with customers raving about how they would recommend this to anyone. So, for anyone who has a friend/loved ones birthday approaching, go ahead and make them feel uber special this year and send one of these their way (and report back!).

FOOD DELIVERY: FOOD TRUCK FOOD VIA NOWEATTHISTRUCK

What? Food trucks that deliver? What a concept, almost an oxymoron, but nonetheless, “normal” in NYC. Food trucks have recently gained popularity for their good tasting food and convenience. With noweatthistruck.com, we’re taking the food truck experience to a whole new level. My order: a chicken satay with fat free yellow curry dressing — absolutely to die for, and the fact that I didn’t even need to find the truck to order it — genius. They’ve teamed up with Seamless and the easy only ordering made this even more convenient than food trucks were ever meant to be.

GROCERY DELIVERY VIA MAX DELIVERY (LOWER MANHATTAN)

Ever since starting this blog, I’ve been hearing about Max Delivery, an online delivery service that delivers food, the basic necessities and even DVDs within ONE HOUR of ordering. I haven’t been able to try it for myself since I fall out of their delivery zone. They focus on lower Manhattan, below 34th street on the westside, and below 26th street on the eastside, but I recently asked a friend who lives down there to try this the next time she needed something delivered and she just reported back. She told me she absolutely fell in love with the site and that they do, indeed, deliver within an hour and have an amazing amount of things you can choose from and order online. The prices are mid-high range, but so is the quality of what they offer.

ENTERTAINMENT DELIVERY: KARAOKE MACHINES VIA KARAOKE CHAMP

So this one I didn’t actually get delivered, but absolutely will as soon as the opportunity presents itself. I did think it was such a great idea, I had to share it with the blogosphere. For anyone hosting a party, Karaoke Champ will rent you and deliver a karaoke machine, amplifier, speakers, monitors, microphone, and song book for their summer special price of $149 (weekdays) and $199 (weekends) — regular price $245 and $280. So put your party hats on and sing the night away!

DELIVERY REVIEW UPDATE: BED, BATH & BEYOND

I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond again today with my roommate. We were both looking for storage type units and ended up each picking out something. We put the two boxes in our cart and thought it would be a good idea to get this delivered, especially since I had such a good experience with this previously. When we got to the register and filled out the paperwork, I was charged a double delivery charge, because one of the boxes read that “two should lift”. The guy at the register said that because they would have to send two people, I would need to pay two delivery charges. I’ve been having back issues lately, so I was pretty forced to agree. When the delivery came, it was just one person and he lifted the box up the stairs with ease. I have to say, I feel pretty ripped off.

FOOD DELIVERY: TACOS VIA CASCABEL TAQUERIA (UPPER EAST SIDE)

My order: carne asada tacos and churros on a Saturday night. Cascabel Taqueria has some of my favorite tacos on the upper east side, and on a hot Saturday night, I was pleased to know that the order via delivery.com was just as fresh and flavorful as my dine-in experience.

DOG WALKING VIA BISCUITS & BATH (UPPER EAST SIDE)

After asking around about the growing popularity of delivering services, I asked a friend to guest blog here about her dog walking services and how it has impacted her life.

The Life of a Spoiled Pup

I moved to NYC from a suburban town in Texas called Grapevine.  As you can imagine, life is a little different where I’m from.  I got my first puppy about 3 years ago and the first half of his life was spent in Texas.  Besides having a yard to run in, my office was dog friendly which meant Toby (my eskipoo pup) didn’t have to spend much time alone – ever.  When I moved to the city then, I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to offer him the same quality of life since dogs aren’t quite as welcome in the city office setting and my hours are long and unpredicatable.  Thankfully I found a terrific doggy day-care in my neighborhood that wouldn’t just keep Toby busy during the day, but would pick him up and drop him off too: Biscuits & Bath.  In the 5 months since Toby began going to Biscuits, they’ve become like family.  The staff is always super friendly and willing to help me out whenever my schedule unexpectedly changes.  Though their services are nowhere close to cheap, the peace of mind I get knowing my guy is being taken care of (with little required of me besides my monthly check), priceless.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: DELIVERY OF SERVICES: FAD OR TREND?

I recently got asked about the growing popularity of delivering actual services and not just goods — dental work, mani/pedis, dog grooming, just to name a few — and it got me thinking. How have we evolved into this society where, whether it be for lack of time or lack of desire to leave the house, people come to you for things like your annual dental checkup? Is this only going to become more and more common?

I watch the show Royal Pains on USA, a show about concierge medical practices in the Hamptons. For the uber wealthy, concierge servies have become a norm in the day-to-day. And it seems like for the rest of us, this may actually catch on and be here to stay.
